Sometimes I have this attitude about dying drug free etc. (unless you have kids or are really hurting someone else) that it hurts more than heals.

It's YOUR choice, so what if if you are drinking, drugging, gambling (mind you, in my very limited, small IQ - that really can cause BIG problems), over-eating or whatever else you did (do - note - I cut and pasted) compulsively.

Make up your own mind. I know it's easy for me sitting here in fairyland (Oz) where a lot of the treatments are free and you don't have these enormous financial burdens to choose from - also Crack never made it here - too big a market in the Northern Hemisphere (you lot!) to worry about it - Coke is even a very rich man's drug here. Good - it's a dumb, junk drug. To short a high which makes you ant more and more etc. - see gambling.

Just the same old same olds. Smack (harmless until you die or get HCV/AIDS). Lots of ICE and crystal meth (we are close to the Phillipines where this crap is purified- gee, that's a party starter - having someone trying to cut their wrists while screaming out "Jesus hates me" - never tried it but, boy, if anyone is addicted to THAT - they really have my sympathy. Oh, and the money spinner - Ecstasy (please drink water wisely if you choose MDMA - I know everyone loves you and you love them, but at its core MDMA is a Rhino trank - they are big and it's hard to work out how much we need to hydrate).

Oh - how could I forget the one that does all the damage here (probably 95% or more - booze, booze and booze - bashing's, domestic violence, gang rapes, cars - need I go on (I think there a few pages on that) - that's the legal one of course so it is OK. We get it when we are 18 - in the US it's 21 isn't it? Probably should be 101 (joke - I know there are sensible people out there - or they say they are - why should they suffer because of the 85% that cannot handle it - any one done any thing they regretted or hurt others when they were drunk - I have, but I guess I'm the only one). Looking at the crime sheets in front of me, I really have been naughty. I've neglected energy drinks and tobacco - they just kill with no fun so that's probably my grave as well (I'll need a big one).

Sorry - back to ice c. 5 min. ago) - how to make friends and influence people.

Don't forget the other biggie "Pot" - harmless! Just ask the 78 y.o parent of a 40 y.o who just can't seem to stop, never had a job or relationship and loves video games. I think I may be contradicting myself here - however my point is, is - if it's not harming others (i.e. "Harmless ole' POT) it is your call entirely when you want to stop. Maybe never?

Is it your call? Wanna' join the army?

[...] The next stop along your road of recovery was realizing that since you cannot fix your problem on your own, you needed to ask for help. This was one of the most difficult things that you ever had to do in your life. Saying out loud to someone “I need help”, is not something that addicts do very well. We usually try to hide the fact that we are not in control and are not perfect. But somehow you did it. These things got you started out along your road of addiction recovery…but where are you along your road of recovery now? (more…) [...]
